Ahoy, Earthfolk
Botanical novelties tend to activate a sense of wonder in people, especially in those who may not regularly encounter plant life up close. Much of my work thus involves bringing cut flowers and native plants into conversation with man-made environments, a context in which I love sharing someone else’s awe at a plant’s sheer beauty–and will to survive through every stage of its development–sometimes against all odds. My hope is that we all learn to look at each other that way, and continually imagine better ways to love and care for the complex ecosystems to which we belong.
